3 points for IBB Polonia London in a derby match
Saturday, 20th October was the start of the 2018/19 Super League for IBB Polonia London Volleyball Club. In the away fixture against Richmond Docklands, Simon Loftus’s players won convincingly 3-0 (25:15; 25:19; 25:22) and chalked up the first three points on the league table.
“We started with a high level of concentration, which showed in the strong result in the first set. The game flowed well, but there were times when we made errors and gifted points to the opposition. We were significantly stronger in all elements of the game, which allowed a straightforward victory” commented Dominik Zmuda (2nd Assistant Trainer for IBB Polonia London VC). Dominik brings a raft of volleyball experience from the highest league in Poland with ZAKSA Kedzierzyn-Kozle.
The three set encounter, was a great start to the new season and allowed for a few outcomes to be determined. In the upcoming week, the team from London will work on a number of aspects before the first home match against Sheffield Hallam.
Zmuda added: „We will look to minimise the number of unforced errors we make. We must work hard to achieve our ideal level. We have divided the roles between all of the three coaches; my main role is to work with the receivers. That is the position I played in Poland and I am confident that our players have the ability to make significant progress.”
In the new season, the Londoners showed determination and ambition. From the first point it was clear they are aiming very high once again. The new squad and coaching staff is the next new phase for the team that is aiming for the top.
“Perpetual victory is our mission in The Cup and League. I like a challenge like this and we will not run away from our responsibilities.”
27th October will be the first opportunity for the fans to see the team play at home with the full squad. The game starts at 4PM. Tickets are more details are available online. Dominik Zmuda invites all to come and support.
“We will be ready for the encounter against Sheffield. I warmly invite our fans to Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre. We will play for our established aims. I am sure, that with everyone’s support, the winning feeling will continue.”
