Three points for IBB Polonia London

Following on from the historic victory in Denmark where IBB Polonia London became the very first British team to win the NEVZA Cup, the time arrived for the next Super League match. Simon Loftus’ team certainly did not let up by demolishing Essex Blaze 0:3 (13:25; 19:25; 22:25) and quickly returned home with all three points. This extends the unbeaten domestic run still further.

“It was another tough game against Essex, they play good defence and serve tough. I think the preparation in Denmark we had last weekend put us in a better position to beat Essex more convincingly than before. We served well and played much better defence than previously. I think the trip away helped us to bond as a team and that will hopefully help us to perform at a high standard for the rest of the season” – said Rupert Scott, IBB Polonia London setter.

During the match in Colchester, the fans could take look at the NEVZA Trophy for themselves. This was the initiative of The Club as well as the Polish Tourist Organisation, which is the partner of #TrophyTour.

„We are very proud of the international successes of IBB Polonia London that achieved another piece of British volleyball history. The win in Denmark persuaded us to rekindle our relationship with The Club, and this is by presenting the #NEVZA Trophy during the domestic competitions. On Saturday, in Colchester, we kicked off project #TrophyTour, which has the aim of inspiring the volleyball community and shows that such aims are within everybody’s reach. The display was well received by the fans who attended the match and I hope that we can continue this at subsequent matches. The hope is to, not only promote The Club and its successes, but also Poland as a superb tourist and sporting destination from where we are learning volleyball know-how” commented Iwona Białobrzycka the Director of the Polish Tourist Organisation.

The next opportunity to see the European Trophy will be at the Semi Final of the National Cup. The London based team, in their own sportshall, host local pretenders to the crown Malory Eagles. The game will take place on 24th February at Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre. There will be a number of attractions for fans to enjoy as well as the main event which will be a match to win a place at the Cup Final. It should be a lot of fun and everybody is invited to come and enjoy Saturday afternoon in a friendly atmosphere. Tickets are available online. All at The Club are inviting volleyball fans to come and support the home team.

The support of the fans will be crucial in helping the league leaders in the next few matches. The West London Club has a number of tough encounters ahead of them as they battle for the top trophies in the UK. The opposition will be of the highest order and will not roll over in defeat.
