A Chilean star joins IBB Polonia London
With its philosophy strongly associated with development and realising its strategic targets, the Club continues with reinforcements. A very interesting transfer has been achieved by signing a superstar from the Chilean National Team. The first setter; Matias Banda joins the squad and brings with him enormous experience to London.
The reigning champion of England is preparing for the upcoming season that revolves around the CEV Champions League tournament. Strategic identification of appropriate talent has been taking place for some weeks with the aim of bringing another European success to the London based team of IBB Polonia. Banda will play for the 2021/22 season.
At the age of 26, Matias Banda has been playing for about half of his life and in that time has South American and European club experience. Starting at the age of 12, Banda was soon selected for the National Team by the age of 15 and since that time has been continually involved in representing Chile in continental competitions and has played against both Brazil and Argentina. The last half season was spent in Portugal, having transferred from Monteros Argentina, the ex-club of Federico Pereyra and Guillermino Garcia.

„I’m very happy and motivated to be part of IBB Polonia London. I know it is a very ambitious club. It’s another big step in my career so I will give my 100% and continue to learn as much as I can. My goals for the season are similar to the Club’s aims. I want to show good level of volleyball and to win; trying to win as many matches as possible, to progress to the next stage in CEV Champions League and play against the best players. In the meantime, I want to improve my game and be a better player. I visited London few years ago and fell in love with the city, so I am looking forward to going there, improving my English skills and meeting new people from different countries” – said Matias Banda, the new IBB Polonia London setter.

Popularise of the development of volleyball in England
Promote the sporting union between Poland and England on the basis of longstanding historical and cultural conditions – to which we can now add sporting ones as well.
