A member of the cabinet was supporting IBB Polonia London on Saturday

In the most recent weekend, the players of IBB Polonia London Volleyball Club played two matches. On Saturday 15th October 2016, the first match of the Volleyball England Cup took place against a team from Cheltenham and Gloucester. The match was over quickly and IBB Polonia London were the victors 3:0 (25:13, 25:14, 25:10). On Sunday 16th October 2016, the game was against Sheffield; the team currently second in the top division, and one place below IBB Polonia London. Once again the Londoners were the victors 3:1. The set scores were 23:25, 25:16, 25:15, 25:20. This win will strengthen the lead at the top of the table and extends the unbeaten run from the start of the season.

–The start of the Saturday game was a little disjointed. The opposition played a slightly different level to the one we are used to; but we soon managed to find our rhythm and maintained our concentration to the end winning comfortably. – commented IBB Polonia London Volleyball Club coach Piotr Graban

On Saturday, we played a weaker team. You could see they fought hard, but our better organisation and control allowed us to dominate the opponents and we won comfortably. –said Bartosz Kisielewicz, the setter from IBB Polonia London Volleyball Club.

During the Cup game we welcomed some VIPs to the stands: Adam Kwiatkowski – Polish Secretary of State – Chief of the Cabinet of the President, also the Polish Consul General Michal Mazurek. The other notable supporters were representatives from IBB Polish Building Wholesale, The Polish Bakery (Wembley), Polish Radio London as well as the usual faithful fan club.

The thing that impressed me most at the IBB Polonia match was the commitment of the players who give up time to train and to build volleyball in England. Also supporters in their loud and international group were great in creating the atmosphere. The whole IBB Polonia is a great example of sport bringing: people, generations and whole countries together. – said Adam Kwiatkowski, Secretary of State – Chief of the Cabinet of the President.

The ‘top of the table clash” on Sunday was the highlight of the weekend, witnessed by hoards of spectators. Once again, the London team proved the stronger of the two and took the three points.

We started strongly against Sheffield, but towards the end of the first set, we made 2 or 3 unforced errors and gave the set away. In the next sets regained our concentration and controlled the game throughout. All the players contributed greatly: not just the starting seven. I want to thank the entire squad of eighteen players for their contribution to the weekend; as well as their hard work which allows us to  train at a high level each week. A huge thanks to the fan-club and the supporters. Without them we wouldn’t be here. –  said a delighted Piotr Graban.

On Sunday, the two unbeaten teams in the Super 8 competition met up, but the competition was uneven. We played one point at a time, as we say in volleyball. Sadly we threw a set away to Sheffield, but the last three sets were dictated by us. It was great to see that the work begun by the starting seven was continued by the substitutes. The supporters were amazing, as usual, and helped us fly! The atmosphere was incredible. – said an ecstatic Bartosz Kisielewicz.

The weekend provided London with a great level of volleyball. The athletes played a great standard and the partners of the team provided additional attractions. The atmosphere was spectacular and was reminiscent of the biggest global volleyball competitions.

The next match for the Champions of England will be on Sunday 23rd October 2016. The squad will travel to Newcastle to fight for the next three points against Team Northumbria. The match starts at 3pm.
