IBB Polonia finish 2018 with another victory to stay undefeated

The final match of 2018 was the context for the match on Saturday, December 15th. Simon Loftus’ charges defeated the team from Newcastle Staffs 0:3 (19:25; 25:27; 21:25). The Londoners should be proud of the victory and yet another three points to add to their account at the top of the Superleague table. The win completes the full sweep of with wins from eight. The luxury of a four point cushion at the top of the table will allow a relaxed and happy Christmas for the entire team.

“Our goal today was to ensure that we remain at the top of the table with a three points lead. We were a better team both individually and as a team however our performance wasn’t that convincing throughout the match. We gave Newcastle too much room to play which they exploited. In the end however our experience and individual qualities pulled the team together to the successful ending. I would like to emphasise that presence of our supporters, their commitment and support pushed us forward and they were additional player on court” – commented Marcel Sivak, IBB Polonia London libero.

The team from London realised the game plan and returned home in a celebratory mood. They will be rewarded with a break for Christmas and the New Year and then they will return to training for the second half of the season.

“Going to a Christmas break with our lead and without loosing a game gives us quite a bit of advantage. The second half of the season is bound to be much more competitive and we need to come back and be ready for every fight. These plans show that we cannot be complacent but continue to work hard in trainings, try to finesse our performance and not to drop in our focus.” added Sivak.

„I am delighted that the first half of the season has ended in such a positive way. Everyone has worked very hard to get to this point and now we all deserve a rest and a break. I am sure the break will give everyone a chance to recover and recharge their batteries. I would like to take the opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Christmas. I look forward to seeing everyone at our next match” said Bartek Luszcz, IBB Polonia London Chairman.

In the next round, starting in January 2019, the division will be split into two based on the position in the table. As the leader, IBB Polonia London will be battling it out with the top teams. In that group are the surprise package Durham Palatinates, Sheffield Hallam, Essex and Wessex BU. Soon the information about the next matches will become available on The Club Website as well as the usual social media channels.
