IBB Polonia match the table leaders, just pipped to the post

On Saturday 19th February, IBB Polonia London played another Super League match. This time it was a long away journey to Durham which ended up with four sets and ultimately a defeat to the table toppers.

From the first serve, the match was of the highest standard and was a great show for the spectators. Both teams fought for every contact of the ball which led to a very even first set. The second and third were a classic volleyball rollercoaster; first the visitors dominated the hosts and then the reverse happened in the third set. The fourth set, once again, was anybody’s to win, but a few mistakes due to inexperience occurred which resulted in the loss of a set point. Despite the loss, IBB Polonia showed that they could play with anybody in the country and can be very proud of the achievements on the day. At the rate that they are progressing, it won’t be long before they are able to beat everybody in the country and start to win against non-British teams.

To find out what life is like for IBB Polonia London, a TV series has been produced and is being broadcast; from Sunday 20th February it will be available online as well as on TV. The series shows how the group has changed and gives an interesting behind-the scenes look at a day in the life of a Champion of England! Originally broadcast on BT Sport, one of the top sports channels in Britain, is is also available here: https://fb.me/e/1wHGkaqsg

The next game for IBB Polonia London will be at the start of March and takes place away in Tendring Essex on the 5th March at 3.45pm.

„It was great being back here as I know some of the players. Two of my old teammates are still in the Durham team. I also played with the setter for IBB Polonia. It was a good game. We were very close in the end; the whole game was kind of up and down actually. The second and third sets were first up for us, then down for us and then forth was very, very close. Everyone could have taken the win in the end. Unfortunately, they got us 28:26 and won for three points.” – said Peter Edwards, IBB Polonia London outside hitter, who played in Durham Palatinates in the past.
