Polonia London Volleyball Club – The current club champions of England – have been invited by the Polish volleyball club PGE Skra Belchatow to play an exhibition match, to take place during the biggest volleyball fan jamboree in Poland. PGE SKra Belchatow’s Chairmen, Konrad Piechoki stated, “We have watched Polonia closely over the past season, and with the club now being champion of the Super 8 Division in England and very popular, we decided to sign a partnership deal, and their trip to Belchatow is part of this cooperation”
Bartek Luszcz of Polonia London replied, “We are very grateful for this invitation. It is a huge privilege for us, and evidences that our peers in Poland treat our partnership seriously. This is most likely one of the greatest club-level matches in the history of any club and therefore we are extremely proud to not only represent our club, Polonia London, but also the whole of English Volleyball.
Polonia players will arrive in Belchatow on Friday 30th August to enjoy the city-wide celebrations that will culminate in an outdoor concert, including many popular Polish music stars. Following the cultural festivities, this historical first clash between the English and Polish volleyball clubs will be played in Energia Hall, with first serve at 6:30pm on Saturday 31st August.
Lisa Wainwright, Chief Executive of Volleyball England praised this level of activity, “Volleyball in England has become more and more popular since the London 2012 Olympics, I am very pleased to see such a partnership forming between Polonia and PGE Skra, as it is not only a fantastic opportunity for them to compete on a level not currently seen in England, but it will also prove a great benefit to our sport and future talent development.

Promote the sporting union between Poland and England on the basis of longstanding historical and cultural conditions – to which we can now add sporting ones as well.
