Progress to the quarter finals of the National Cup and the upcoming CEV Cup
IBB Polonia London succeeded in overcoming Cambridge ARU 3-0 and progressed to the quarter finals of the National Cup of England. Once again, the team was filled with juniors from Pro Volley Academy supported by a number of the senior squad. as is becoming the norm, the majority of the team remained in Bełchatów – Poland and prepared for the imminent CEV Cup.
In the previous weekend, IBB Polonia London took part in another domestic match. This time in the National Cup of England, once again away in Cambridge. The players competed very well and swiftly beat the opposition 0-3 (16:25; 20:25; 17:25) to secure a place in the quarter finals. This match will take place at the end of January 2022. It was delightful to see the team with son many of the Pro Volley Academy players once again supported by a few senior players.
After the encounter, a number of the Pro Volley Academy players travelled to the junior National Team training where they continued their training.
The senior team stayed in Poland and continued to work on their preparations for the next European competitions; in fact they travel to Holland today to play against Orion Doetinchem. The CEV Cup encounter will take place between the London team and the Dutch team on Wednesday, 17th November at 8pm local time. Due to covid restrictions, no spectators will be allowed once again.
The European Federation has remained unresponsive with regards to the situation of only playing one competitive game as documented previously. The possible one match encounter may well determine progress to the next round of the competition, and with this in mind, there Londoners travel to Holland with this prospect at the back of their minds; in effect a 3-0 walkover for the Dutch. More details about the trip to Holland will appear on social media.
„We are looking forward to the game and have made some improvements from last time round so we are ready to put them into practice on the court. We have nothing to lose going into the game having lost the first game so we will give our all and do what we can to come away with the result!” Ryan Poole, IBB Polonia London outside hitter.
