The first home fixture of the year results in another victory

On Saturday, 27th October 2018, IBB Polonia London won the second Super League match out of two. This time the win was against Sheffield Hallam 3:1 (22:25, 28:26, 25:11, 25:22) and the match showed a large element of control and three league table points as a result.

„The start to the season has been beautiful. Saturday’s game was a good example of this. In the first set, we allowed ourselves to be taken by surprise and the opponents took advantage of the situation. Despite this, the players showed fortitude and the level of our play was very high.” commented IBB Polonia London Bartek Luszcz.

The encounter between two of the top teams in the UK was witnessed by loyal supporters as usual, who were very vocal throughout.

„The sport shall was awash with emotion. The support from the fans was amazing, as was the presence of the newest sponsor and buoyed them to victory. The scoreline resulted in laughter, smiles and joy amongst the fans and Top Renovations who eagerly joined the team of team sponsors. Their company logo will be proudly worn by the libbers this season. We are very grateful to them for their belief in our project in promoting volleyball in the UK.” added Luszcz.

As usual, there was no shortage of other attractions court-side. There was a surprise for both fans and players from both teams alike. The appearance of an enormous Eagle that had landed in Brentford brought gasps of surprise from all. The new mascot in the form of an Eagle created a huge tunnel through which the officials and players entered the court for the match.

Thanks to the win and the good times spent on court, the week of training before the next match should be a positive one. The squad will now focus on the next challenge that awaits them: an away match against Team Essex Blaze that will take place on Saturday, 3rd November 2018. The team return to their own sport hall the following Saturday (10th November) when the next round of the National Cup will be played against Onyx London.
