Vangelis was selected to run a coaches’ course by the FIVB

Vangelis Koutouleas, the Head Coach of the reigning volleyball Champions of England was selected by the global governing body, the FIVB, to facilitate and deliver a Coaches’ course.  The dates for the event were between 3 and 13 May 2021 and there were several dozen delegates. Koutouleas has been an FIVB instructor for over a year.

Originally the course was scheduled for Cyprus, but due to the global restrictions on travelling the course was rearranged to be an online course. Forty six attendees from all corners of the globe, including Cyprus, Greece, Russia, Ukraine and Brazil, joined in the virtual format.

The course was a Level 1, out of three possible levels, and concluded with an exam relating to technical skills and how to build a volleyball team. The delegates displayed a high level of competence, and for this reason the demands on Koutouleas were significant. The feedback from the newly qualified coaches was very positive and Koutouleas has already been invited to deliver future courses.

„I am very pleased with the course. I enjoy sharing my knowledge via the internet with over forty people from around the world. It was an amazing experience for me! Some of the coaches surpassed the level of the course, and so I had to be adaptable to ensure everybody benefitted. I think I did a good job, and this is backed up by the invitation to continue this work. I can’t wait!” said Vangelis Koutouleas, the Head coach for IBB Polonia London.

Koutouleas also has the appropriate qualification to deliver Beach Volleyball courses, and has already taught many coaches. As usual, during the „off season” he returns to the sand to coach on the beach. In May he is scheduled to deliver some coaching professional development in Kent.

It is not only the Head Coach who has a busy schedule. The club directors have been planning the next campaign for some time. IBB Polonia London is to continue the development plan, strengthening their position in UK volleyball and competing at higher levels both on court as well as in the business world. The process of building the squad for the 2021-2022 season, as well as developing relationships with new and exciting partners, fans and supporters is well underway, and the effects can be followed on the club website and also on social media.
